Outside our small safe place flies Mystery... A snake beneath the forest floor, a whisper: Melusine

So, I didn't win or get into the top ten finalists for the Really Arty Flight of the Conchords poster contest but at least I took part, had a laugh, and really enjoyed the other entries.  I'm always surprised by the choices judges make.  Art contests are so subjective.  It really comes down to a certain vibe.  Bret and Jemaine only may have saw the top ten finalists, but they still must have had a hard decision to make.  Each poster entry was simply lovely.  The poster they picked was created with Nintendo Wii graphics, very simple with colors that remind me of the early 80's, 1981 to be exact when there was this earthy yet techno transition from the late 70's to the 80's.  The designer really incorporated just about every important little detail from the television show. The other finalists' work was genuinely original, incorporating the music and themes from just about every genre and time period of popular music that FotC does.  The ten finalists weren't picked by Jemaine and Bret, they were picked by the sponsor, HBO, and I was surprised at their choices. 

I don't mind that I didn't win, but for awhile there I did strongly feel I did the best.  I swelled up with confidence like I do every time I've ever entered a contest.  I'm not a sore loser.  I appreciated the other entries and commented on them, encouraging others to go for it.  I just wonder when I'll ever get worldly recognition.  Someday, eh?
