In my previous post I talked about who is on top of my list of nominations for the annual Mindsay Awards hosted this year by mmca. One category I felt was missing was acknowledgement for the hard work folks have done for the Mindsay wiki pages. I was surprised to see it not mentioned on mmca's list. Even if it isn't included on the category list for final nominations, I want to personally acknowledge the achievements of Mindsayers who have taken the time and effort to create some very entertaining wiki pages at Mindsay.
*Best Mindsay wiki page -- this would be the page most Mindsayers like to visit when they hit that Wiki index. These are the public Mindsay wiki's not the personal ones.
My nominations for Best Mindsay Wiki Page:
Andreux really has put together one of the best pages with his homage to Night Watch -- a Russian fantasy/horror film that's worth checking out for its stunning visuals and engaging story.
I'm going to toot my own horn here again, and direct your attention to my Night of the Living Dead wiki page. I believe it's the best page I've done here at Mindsay and I did my best to make it interactive, too. That being said, I may go ahead and do the sequels to all four of the Living Dead films by George A. Romero... so keep an eye out for those later.
The Adult Swim Mindsay wiki page most captures the design and feel of Cartoon Channel's Adult Swim programs. When you log on to the page, it's like taking a trip through Adult Swim. callmeroger did such an excellent job with this page, I think he should work for Adult Swim!
*Best Informational Mindsay wiki page -- this is a category I only just know thought of and wanted to bring up here before I forget it. Out of all the wiki pages produced by Mindsayers, this is one wiki that even people outside of Mindsay can turn to for the best, most up-to-date information on a particular subject not every many people are familiar with but should know about.
insolence has done an excellent job with the Aphex Twin page, in fact it was the first Mindsay wiki page that caught my attention because not only for its sleek and practical design, it was filled with information about the music of DJ Richard David James. When I saw this page, it served me as a basis and standard for which Mindsay wiki pages about musicians should be. I loved the way he added music videos in such a neat, easy to download and view fashion, too.
I am rather proud of the informational pages I designed for Wicca and Witchcraft. The reason why I feel I deserve your notice for these pages is because these are the pages I've done that have garnered me the most thoughtful responses from people who later printed out what I wrote and used for classes and/or seminars at their churches. I was very touched by that.
I also think my design for the Tarot wiki page is a good one, too.
dayzeday, otacon120, and midimacman have done an excellent job with the Web Design page, making it an excellent stop for those beginners just getting into web design and need some support. This wiki page has a simple design with colors that are easy on the eyes.
*Best Collaboratively Created Mindsay wiki page -- this is a Mindsay wiki page that has been most successfully created and designed by a whole group of Mindsay bloggers who didn't have to step on each other's toes to make a great page we all can enjoy.
That page I would say is the Firefly page. Over a span of a few months, fans of Firefly here at Mindsay have banded together like the Browncoats they love and have independently logged on together to provide not only information about the series, but have also made the page pretty to look at. Those brave designers are: jessicabonnie, dayzeday, and valentinaxxx (myself), and we never had interacted with each other before!
*Best Personal Mindsay wiki page -- the best personal Mindsay wiki pages people like to visit.
There are several favorites of mine I want to see get a BIG back slap for their achievement in designing some of the best personal wiki pages I've seen on Mindsay:
Andreux not only has done stellar work on public Mindsay wiki pages, but he has truly made his own personal wiki a very entertaining spot to regularly visit. Plus he regularly updates his personal wiki each week. I've also noticed that many people love to visit his page and leave him several thought provoking replies. Also, since Andreux's blog is set to private (in other words, you have to be one of his friend's to access his blog) he leaves his personal wiki as a place for the public to respond to him and check out what he's all about. Not bad.
CallmeRoger's personal page is, by far, one of the best and brightest, serving for many of us as an example of how excellent you can make a personal wiki page at Mindsay. He has also shared the love by providing tips to how you can make your personal wiki page neat, too.
If it weren't for callmeroger and Andreux, many of us would still be in the dark about designing excellent Mindsay wiki pages!
Another excellent personal Mindsay wiki page I want to draw attention to is Leedman's personal wiki -- not only is his design simple and easy to read, it serves as an excellent example of how to use your personal wiki page as an extension of your blog.
*Best Mindsay wiki page theme -- the most creative and best designed Mindsay wiki page (public). This would be the most PRETTIEST page created, in other words, the one that is fun to visit because it's good looking. It may not have the best information on it, but it doesn't matter, it's just a breath of fresh air to the eyes.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a page I often reference back to, not because I'm a fan of the series, but because what callmeroger has done with it is so pretty and neat, really capturing the essence of the series that makes me want to go to my local video store and check it out.
The Fooly Cooly Mindsay wiki (another page designed by CallmeRoger) is also worthy of attention.
My prettiest Mindsay wiki page themes are:
Pirates of the Caribbean
Portishead
Moulin Rouge
Marie Antoinette
Damien Rice (to name just a few)
I know I'm not the only one creating Mindsay wiki pages, so if you think there's a few more someone out there has created, nominate them, please!
