Since that post of photoshop edited 18th century paintings of ladies that I turned into me, and since I've been busy reading Antonia Fraser's "Marie Antoinette: The Journey", I've been researching that time of history again... and soon I'll be posting a new comic graphic novella thingy called "An Ordinary Day in the Life of an 18th Century Lady" -- drawn in the style of the period. Just a little something I've been wanting to do for a long while, actually. I'm fascinated with how people used to get dressed in the morning hundreds of years ago. And I'm usually pleasantly surprised, with the exception of a few things such as wardrobe and technological advances, that we really aren't all that different from our ancestors.
Look above and you'll note that I included a few favorite images of Marie Antoinette -- a very misunderstood and underappreciated queen. I look at pictures of her and see a friend sometimes...
An online acquaintence, Molly Crabapple has done such a wonderful job with mocking and illustrating a wonderous version of the 19th century, that I can't help but be inspired by her work. She even has a fun What Victorian Stereotype are You? quiz that tempts me to do an 18th century version of it. I'll keep you posted if I do!
